Select Shots Cover on Eye On Independence Magazine

Select Shots EP (Elevated Photography) was fortunate to be asked to shoot and design the November 2010 cover for Eye On Independence Magazine. One of the feature stories inside is about the Landers Theater in Batesville, AR being restored by the Fellowship Bible Church. I think you can read the article online at www.eyeonmag.com.
This shoot’s location produced several challenges, a large number of power cables on both sides of the road being one and a busy road being another.
Power cables can generally be removed in the studio, although consideration to where they are placed within the image is important. I decided to photograph the building at dawn. The road was also much quieter at this time.
Once again I was amazed at how stable the mast is at 30′. Using portions of various image exposures to capture the range of lighting from the bright lights to the dark shadows I was able to create an image I’m very proud of being on a cover. I finished the image by adding a past Moon shot, starry sky and for a fall/Halloween feel a few leaves to create a border.
I also got to add a few more images to my ‘Batesville – Above The Rest’ Photo book and postcard series I am working on for next year.
