Mandy – Senior photos at Select Shots Photography

Mandy is a 2009 Senior at Batesville High School. We were honored that she decided on Select Shots Photography to shoot her Senior portraits. Select Shots really likes to have FUN when shooting seniors! I think Mandy will tell you she did have fun. It certainly shows in her photographs. Hopefully we will be able to catch a few more of her softball games this year. Thank you, Mandy, for letting Select Shots be part of your Senior year!

You can view Mandy’s session video here. It is also on our facebook page. Become a Fan! Leave Mandy a comment!

No Tornadoes – Lots of Wind in Batesville, AR

Tree and power lines down on Main Street in Batesville, AR

We were watching actor Will Smith in Seven Pounds when the lights went out.  Sheri had just figured out the plot, she is really good at this, I think we were all of 15 minutes into the movie this time. Anyway the lights went out the wind was blowing like crazy. The neighbors dog Duke was barking his head off, but that had nothing to do with the wind blowing, rain or the power being out. Duke barks all the d@#% time.

Well there we are sitting in almost total darkness, only the glow from my laptop screen. I thought quickly and brought up the radar on weather.com just as the internet went out. Yup I’m that good. Ha! By this time Sheri had the flashlights out and was lighting candles. I headed off to get one of my 14 police scanners, the Bearcat SC200, and started monitoring our local emergency services.

Batesville’s and Independence County’s OEM was reporting several trees down across power lines and one was down across 167 at St. Louis and Main Street. It was raining very hard and I’m glad I was not outside in it, but silently laughed as I heard Duke barking.

I went around this morning and took a few photos of some of the damage the wind caused. As far as I know there were no injuries. That is always a good thing.

You can view a few more images on the Photos Page.

Sometime today we will watch the rest of the moive. :)

Batesville MarkMartinville Sign

Looks like the City of Batesville got busy and finished the Batesville Race sign. Just in time for Mark Martin’s 5th annual fan appreciation Day. Do you think that is a coincidence? Yeah, me either. I am sure there will be a lot of fans at the Mark Martin Ford dealership the next few days.

My wife and I actually went to school with Mark.  My brother-in-law actually drove Mark around in Mark’s Chevy blazer because Mark didn’t have his drivers license. It’s funny what you remember about people when you grew up around them.

Anyway, despite what I remember about Mark when we were growing up I wish he could pull out a nascar championship. Most likely will not be this year. But I hear he wants to be back next year for another full season.

A great site to keep up to date on NASCAR news and events is NASCARVIEW. They have live chat rooms during the races and lots of other racey information.
